In Mykolaiv, a court remanded a 39-year-old Chilean citizen into custody on suspicion of murdering two Colombian comrades-in-arms.

The incident occurred on June 30. According to the investigation, a verbal altercation broke out between foreign soldiers serving in the Ukrainian army. The suspect, Rodrigo Sebastián Toro Carvajal, who was in the back seat of a car while intoxicated (2.29 per mille), fired several shots from an automatic weapon at the 39-year-old driver and the 33-year-old passenger. Both Colombian citizens died at the scene.

The court ordered the suspect to be held in custody until August 29 without the possibility of bail. The Chilean national was charged with the intentional murder of two people.

The defendant himself does not admit guilt and claims to have had good relations with the deceased men. The defense insists that the investigation failed to take into account the presence of two women in the car and the fact that there were three weapons rather than one.
