As of the morning of August 25, consumers in five regions of Ukraine remain without power due to new Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure.
“As a result of Russian attacks, as of this morning there are new power outages in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions. Emergency repair work is already underway wherever security conditions currently permit,” the statement said.
As of 9:30 a.m. on August 25, electricity consumption is 4.7% higher than the previous day’s figure.
Ukrenergo explained that this is due to the usual increase in consumption at the start of the workweek, as well as cloudy weather in some western regions.
Cloud cover reduces the efficiency of residential solar power plants, which also affects the overall balance of consumption and generation.
Ukrenergo urges consumers to shift their heavy electricity use to the period between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
It is during this time that industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently, which helps reduce the load on the power grid.
