A man died in Rivne after falling under a passenger train

A 52-year-old man died at the Rivne train station after falling from the platform onto the tracks in front of a passenger train. According to eyewitnesses, the victim was intoxicated. Law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy.

 

At the train station in Rivne, a passenger train struck and killed a 52-year-old man who had fallen from the platform onto the tracks. 

The tragedy occurred on July 7 at around 9:30 p.m. According to preliminary findings from the investigation, a passenger train on the “Kovel–Odesa/Kovel–Dnipro” route struck and killed a 52-year-old Rivne resident who had fallen from the platform onto the tracks.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was intoxicated. He died at the scene from his injuries.

Law enforcement officials are currently determining all the circumstances of the incident. Investigators have launched a pre-trial investigation under Part 3 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules or railway transport operation regulations).

This was reported on Wednesday, July 8, by the press service of the Rivne Regional Police.

As a reminder, on Tuesday, June 30, Kyiv and the Kyiv region were affected by thick smog. Residents of the capital are reporting a strong smell of smoke, reduced visibility, and a scratchy throat.
 
As of June 29, air quality in the Kyiv region was within normal limits, despite numerous fires in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. No increase in background radiation levels was recorded in the region either.
