In Shepetivka, a man attacked a retired woman in an elevator and was sentenced to 8 years
In Shepetivka, a court sentenced a 61-year-old man to eight years in prison with confiscation of property for a robbery involving an assault on a 65-year-old woman. The man followed the victim into the elevator, began choking her, and demanded money. The woman managed to break free and immediately contacted the police.
The incident occurred in August in Shepetivka, Khmelnytskyi Oblast. The man spotted the 65-year-old woman and began following her. When the pensioner entered the elevator in her building, the attacker followed her inside. According to police, he began choking the woman and demanding that she hand over her money.
The victim kept her composure and began to fight back. She managed to break free from the attacker. Afterward, the woman immediately reported what had happened to law enforcement.
The attacker was quickly found
After the victim’s report, the police began searching for the man. An alert for his arrest was issued to all units that could help locate him. Law enforcement officers quickly identified the attacker and took him into custody.
He turned out to be a 61-year-old resident of Izyaslav. According to police, the man already had a criminal record. He had previously been prosecuted multiple times for robbery and theft. He had also served time in prison. Investigators from the Shepetivka District Police Department conducted a pretrial investigation. Upon its completion, the indictment was submitted to the court.
The court sentenced him to 8 years in prison
The Shepetivka City and District Court reviewed the materials of the criminal case and found the man guilty of robbery. The court classified his actions under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This refers to robbery committed repeatedly under martial law.
The man was sentenced to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. Thus, the attack on the pensioner in the elevator resulted in a prison sentence for the defendant. At the same time, the verdict may be appealed in accordance with the procedure established by law. This was reported by the Khmelnytskyi Regional Police.
