Ukraine has lodged a protest with Israel over grain from the occupied territories

UA NEWS 27 April 2026 21:33
Ukraine has lodged a protest with Israel over grain from the occupied territories

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Israeli ambassador following reports that a ship carrying Ukrainian grain had been received; according to the Ukrainian side, the grain had been taken by Russia from the occupied territories.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga noted that this is already the second such incident and emphasized the need to respond to such incidents.

He announced this on social media.

Sybiga emphasized that friendly Ukrainian-Israeli relations can benefit both countries, and Russia’s illegal trade in stolen Ukrainian grain should not undermine them.

“It is difficult to understand Israel’s lack of an adequate response to Ukraine’s legitimate demand regarding the previous ship that delivered the stolen goods to Haifa. Now that another such ship has arrived in Haifa, we once again warn Israel against accepting the stolen grain and damaging our relations,” Sibiga wrote.

He added that in this context, “we have already officially summoned the Israeli ambassador tomorrow morning to deliver our note of protest and demand that appropriate measures be taken.”

The day before, the Israeli publication Haaretz reported that the Panormitis, which, according to its information, was transporting grain from the occupied territories of Ukraine, was awaiting permission to dock in Haifa. The publication also reported that four shipments of grain from the occupied territory of Ukraine had already been unloaded in Israel this year.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not commented on this news.

A new party called “Together” is being formed in Israel to oppose Netanyahu.

As a reminder, Israel recently agreed to a 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon and announced the start of a move toward a diplomatic settlement; however, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the war against “Hezbollah” is not yet over and military operations will continue. He also emphasized that the country is combining diplomacy and force, seeking to simultaneously deter threats and advance peace agreements.

Additionally, Israel has fully lifted martial law for the first time in a month and a half. This became possible after the ceasefire with Lebanon and Iran has held so far. The country is gradually returning to normal life.
