Ukrainian defender and Serfer's widow, Eva Smirnova, gave birth to a daughter
Ukrainian soldier Eva Yunga Smirnova gave birth to a child in Kyiv. Her daughter was born one month after her father’s death—on August 28, soldier Daniil Serfer Smirnov was killed on the front lines.
Danylo was the commander of an assault group in the 2nd Mechanized Battalion of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade and later joined the International Legion of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
The soldier recalled that he was 16 years old when the full-scale invasion began. At that time, many men from his family joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, his parents wanted him to get an education, so he spent some time in Lithuania.
After Danylo turned 18 and his uncle was seriously wounded near Bakhmut, he decided to return to Ukraine and join the ranks of the defenders.
In July 2025, the soldier married a Ukrainian defender, Eva, a FPV drone operator with the Rubizh Brigade’s combat unit, whose call sign was Yunga. The couple met during the war.
According to the soldier’s wife, Serfer dreamed of having a son, a family, and being the best father he could be.
As a reminder, former political prisoner Mykola Karpiuk was killed on the front lines.
