In Okhtyrka, a man who threw a grenade at police officers was taken into custody

A court has imposed a preventive measure on a resident of Okhtyrka suspected of attacking law enforcement officers. According to the investigation, he threw a grenade at the feet of police officers, after which he was detained and taken into custody.

This was reported on May 13 by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

 

The 41-year-old man was remanded in custody without the right to bail.

The incident occurred on May 10 during negotiations with law enforcement officers. According to the investigation, the man threw a grenade at the feet of the police officers.

As a result of the explosion, three law enforcement officers, a 25-year-old civilian man, and the suspect himself were injured. After receiving medical care, the man was taken to a pretrial detention center.

The suspect’s actions were classified as an attack on the lives of law enforcement officers, attempted murder of several people, illegal handling of ammunition, and hooliganism.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by Sumy region police investigators under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
