Ukraine has banned the sale of more than 400 additional Russian and Belarusian books

In Ukraine, sales of more than 400 additional book titles published by Russian and Belarusian publishers have been suspended. This refers to more than 400 book titles whose sales in Ukraine have been suspended.

As noted, in September, agency experts, based on monitoring results, discovered instances of online sales of over 400 titles published in Russia and Belarus. Most of these commercial listings were illegally posted on the Ukrainian marketplaces Prom.ua and Rozetka.ua by sellers such as “Knyzhkova Skarbnytsia,” Kroshka, IBOOKS, and KingsBook.

“Thanks to cooperation with the administrations of these online platforms, the identified items were promptly removed, and the sellers were warned about their liability for engaging in publishing activities in violation of Ukrainian law,” the committee reported.

Letters were sent to all other e-commerce entities demanding that they independently remove the prohibited items from their websites. If they fail to respond appropriately to the demand, after the established deadlines have passed, the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting will initiate measures to restrict access to the relevant websites in a manner technically feasible for electronic communications service providers.

It is noted that since April 2024, the distribution of a total of approximately 13,000 titles of Russian and Belarusian publications—which sellers had unlawfully listed on the Prom.ua, Rozetka.ua, and other websites.

All domestic publishing entities are once again urged to operate solely within the legal framework of Ukraine.

“The State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting continues to purge the Ukrainian segment of the Internet of Russian and Belarusian publications, the distribution of which is prohibited under Article 28-1 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Publishing,’ the agency emphasized.

This was reported by the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting.

Latvia will ban the import of Russian and Belarusian books and clothing.
