The High Anti-Corruption Court has handed down a verdict against the former chairman of the board of Rodovid Bank
A panel of judges at the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine found Dmytro Yegorenko, the former chairman of the board of Rodovid Bank JSC, guilty of embezzlement and misappropriation of property through abuse of office. The court sentenced the former official to 10 years in prison and ordered the confiscation of all property belonging to him.
This is stated in a message on the High Anti-Corruption Court’s Telegram channel.
In addition to the main sentence, the convicted person is prohibited for three years from holding organizational, managerial, or administrative positions at enterprises of any form of ownership. Despite the severity of the sentence, the court was compelled to release the individual from serving the sentence pursuant to Articles 49 and 74 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This decision was due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution for the crimes committed.
The “Rodovid Bank” case lasted for years and involved large-scale embezzlement of the institution’s funds during the financial crisis. The investigation proved the facts of illegal asset diversion, which led to the destabilization of the bank and significant losses for the state. The High Anti-Corruption Court’s verdict confirmed the validity of the charges brought by anti-corruption authorities; however, procedural deadlines allowed the convicted individual to avoid actual imprisonment.
Yegorenko’s criminal case is linked to former People’s Deputy Oleksandr Shepelev, whose proceedings were conducted separately. He is suspected of embezzling assets from Rodovid Bank on an especially large scale. He is also charged with the murder of the financial institution’s former shareholder, Serhiy Dyadechko,
