Teachers' salaries will increase by 20% starting September 1 — Babak
Starting September 1, teachers in Ukraine are guaranteed a 20% pay raise.
This was announced by Serhiy Babak, a member of parliament and chair of the relevant committee in the Verkhovna Rada.
According to him, the raise is mandatory, but the key problem remains the pay system itself, where the base salary is low and a significant portion of income comes from bonuses.
Parliament plans to change this model, specifically by setting the minimum teacher salary at no less than three times the minimum wage.
The Ministry of Education and Science is to present a detailed financial strategy for the reform by April 22.
Another priority is addressing the staffing crisis in education, as currently only about 20% of graduates with teaching degrees go on to work in their field.
Heads of general secondary education institutions must update teacher data in the “Automated Information Complex for Educational Management” (AICOM) software and hardware system by January 21, 2026, so that deferrals from military conscription continue automatically.
