The Verkhovna Rada opened the 16th session of its ninth convocation
On September 1, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine opened the sixteenth session of the ninth convocation of parliament. This set a new record in the history of Ukrainian parliamentarism.
The parliamentary session was attended by the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada, members of parliament, and members of the Cabinet of Ministers, led by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.
“In accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Resolution on Certain Issues Regarding the Organization of the Work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 9th Convocation Under Martial Law, the 15th session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 9th Convocation concludes today,” said Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk.
A total of 194 members of parliament were registered in the chamber for the opening of the session.
“I hereby declare the 15th session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 9th convocation and its plenary meeting closed and, at the same time, in accordance with Article 83 of the Constitution of Ukraine, I hereby declare the 16th session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 9th convocation and its plenary meeting open,” said Stefanchuk, after which the deputies and government officials sang the national anthem of Ukraine.
According to the Constitution, the opening of the session must take place on the first Tuesday of September.
The 16th session of Parliament will last until February 2027.

The Verkhovna Rada prematurely terminated the mandates of People’s Deputies Denys Maslov and Vitaliy Bezgin, who were members of the “Servant of the People” faction. Parliament adopted the relevant resolutions at a plenary session on July 17.
