The 23-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Golf, who crashed into a public transportation stop on Chokolivsky Boulevard on August 19, was taken into custody without the right to post bail.
According to the investigation, prior to the accident, the driver attempted to change lanes and collided head-on with a “Bogdan” route bus. The car then crashed into the bus stop.
Two women, aged 52 and 35, were killed in the accident, and four other people were injured.
The pretrial detention order will remain in effect until October 17, 2026. The driver has been notified that he is suspected of violating traffic rules, resulting in the deaths of several people. He faces up to 10 years in prison and the revocation of his driver’s license.
Earlier, a community head in the Donetsk region died in a traffic accident.
As a reminder, the Pryluky City and District Court in Chernihiv Oblast sentenced a former police officer to eight years in prison for a fatal traffic accident that killed a six-year-old child.
