Zelenskyy honored 472 defenders, 172 of them posthumously
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded state honors to 472 military personnel, police officers, rescue workers, and border guards, 172 of whom were honored posthumously.
The corresponding decree was published on the president’s website. The awards were granted for personal courage, self-sacrifice in defending Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and conscientious service.
Among the honors are the “Cross of Combat Merit,” the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, “For Courage,” and Danylo Halytsky, as well as the medals “For Military Service to Ukraine,” “For Impeccable Service,” “Defender of the Fatherland,” “For a Life Saved,” and “For Labor and Valor.”
