Zelenskyy Announced New Capabilities for Ukrainian Miltech

Ukraine plans to manufacture about 10 million drones by the end of 2026. At the same time, the country has the potential to double that number. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement following meetings on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.

Ukraine intends to manufacture about 10 million drones by the end of 2026. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this announcement following meetings on the sidelines of the G7 summit, which is taking place in Evian-les-Bains, France.

According to the head of state, current production capacity allows for reaching precisely this figure. At the same time, the Ukrainian defense industry is capable of operating on an even larger scale. “Right now, we plan to produce about 10 million drones this year. But we can double that. And I think that’s also good news from our perspective,” Zelenskyy said.

The president did not disclose all the details but noted that there is positive news not only in the field of drone production. According to him, the Ukrainian military technology sector continues to develop. “There is more good news from our industry, specifically in the Miltech sector. That’s also good,” the head of state noted.

Zelenskyy also commented on the impact of international sanctions against Russia. In his view, the restrictions have already begun to yield results, but this is not yet enough. “The sanctions are starting to work, but they are not enough,” the president emphasized.

The statement came after a series of talks with G7 leaders held in France. Support for Ukraine and the further development of the defense industry remain among the key topics of these meetings. In recent years, drones have become one of the most important elements of modern warfare. Ukraine is actively expanding its own production of both strike and reconnaissance UAVs, as well as developing its military technology sector.

The government has repeatedly stated that relying on its own defense-industrial complex allows it to reduce dependence on foreign supplies and respond more quickly to the needs of the front lines. At the same time, the Ukrainian Miltech sector continues to attract new companies and developers. Certain solutions developed by Ukrainian engineers are already being used by units of the Armed Forces and are undergoing further refinement.

The government identifies the development of domestic technologies and the scaling up of weapons production as one of the key areas for strengthening the country’s defense capabilities. Zelenskyy mentioned this in an interview.

The State Border Guard Service announced that contracts for the procurement of ammunition worth 23 billion hryvnias have been fully fulfilled. All goods supplied by the Polish company PHU Lechmar have already been transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
