Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainians on Independence Day
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainians on the 35th anniversary of our country’s independence. He noted that thanks to our support for one another, the enemy will never defeat Ukraine.
“Today is Ukraine’s Independence Day. The thirty-fifth anniversary. A national holiday whose character has been profoundly altered by the war. One thousand six hundred forty-three days of full-scale war.Right now, things are truly very, very difficult for all of us, but a certain force—one that is by no means invisible—is holding us firmly by the hand. This is the power of our circle of mutual support—supporting one another, having no doubts about those who stand by us, and faith in all Ukrainians. And as long as the enemy does not break this circle of ours, Ukraine will not fall. It will achieve its peace, and it will succeed,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
According to the president, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was fundamentally mistaken in all his plans regarding Ukraine.
The enemy calculated our resources, reserves, and equipment, but failed to take into account the most important factor—the people, who are the greatest asset of an independent Ukraine. It is precisely these people who make up our nation—people who take responsibility, do not want to see Russia here, and fight every day for peace and independence.
Let us recall that on August 24, Ukraine marks the 35th anniversary of its restored independence. This will be the fifth Independence Day during a full-scale war, but this time the date has another special significance: on the eve of and on the day of the holiday, leaders and representatives of countries that support Ukraine will gather in Kyiv.
To mark the occasion, the prime ministers of the United Kingdom and Luxembourg, the president of Moldova, and the leader of Estonia have arrived in Kyiv.
