Zelenskyy proposed that Putin meet in Kostiantynivka

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Vladimir Putin’s statement regarding the alleged capture of Kostiantynivka. He proposed that the Russian leader meet with him in person in the city if it is indeed under the control of Russian troops.

According to Zelenskyy, the Kremlin is attempting to mislead the international community—particularly U.S. President Donald Trump—with such statements. The president emphasized that the actual situation on the front lines differs significantly from Putin’s claims.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that they hold a face-to-face meeting in Kostiantynivka. This was his response to a statement by the Kremlin leader, who claimed that the city was allegedly already under the control of Russian troops. According to the president, on the eve of U.S. Independence Day, Putin decided to spread false information about the situation on the front lines.

Zelenskyy stated that the Russian leader’s claims about the alleged capture of Kostiantynivka do not correspond to reality. “On the eve of U.S. Independence Day, Putin decided to lie to the world and to U.S. President Donald Trump about the situation on the front lines,” the head of state noted.

The president also responded ironically to Putin’s remarks, suggesting that Putin visit the city in person. “If Kostiantynivka is now under Russian control, then Putin will presumably have no problem meeting with me there and finding diplomatic solutions to finally end the war,” Zelenskyy wrote.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian leader would be unable to back up his words in practice. “But he still won’t cross the front line: the truth is very different from what Putin says,” the president added.

This is not the first time Zelenskyy has stated that Russia is using false reports about the situation on the front lines as part of its information war. Ukrainian authorities stress that official information about the course of hostilities should be verified against reports from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other authorized state bodies. Zelenskyy wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during which the two discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, the situation on the front lines, and continued support for Ukraine.
