Zelenskyy dismissed Ukraine's ambassador to Austria
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Vasyl Khymynets from his post as Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Austria.
According to Decree No. 699/2026 dated August 3, Vasyl Khymynets has been officially relieved of the diplomatic post he has held for the past few years.
Vasyl Khymynets has headed the Embassy of Ukraine in Austria since July 2021. Prior to his appointment, he served as director of the First Territorial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, a position he had held since 2015.
No official announcement has yet been made regarding Ukraine’s new ambassador to Austria.
The relevant document has been published on the website of the Office of the President.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Olga Stefanishyna from her post as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States.
Olga Stefanishyna stated that the decision to step down as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States was her own initiative. She noted that she herself had decided to resign from her diplomatic post.
