Institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were damaged in Kyiv as a result of the Russian Federation's attack
As a result of the massive Russian shelling of Kyiv on May 24, a number of scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine sustained damage.
This was reported by the NAS of Ukraine.
In particular, the Institute of History of Ukraine, the Agatangel Krymsky Institute of Oriental Studies, the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature, the Maksym Rylsky Institute of Art Studies, Folklore, and Ethnology, the Oleksandr Potebnya Institute of Linguistics, the Institute of the Ukrainian Language, as well as the Hryhorii Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy and the Institute of Ukrainian Archaeography.






The NAS emphasized that unique archives and cultural heritage were targeted, including manuscripts from the 14th–16th centuries, autographs by Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Ivan Franko, and other priceless materials.
Currently, staff members are working to address the damage caused by the shelling and salvage the scientific collections.
