Russian drones are hindering the evacuation of the wounded from the front lines, according to military officials
The evacuation of the wounded from the front lines has become significantly more difficult due to the Russian forces’ active use of “Zhdu” drones and fiber-optic-controlled UAVs. To rescue soldiers, the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade uses ground-based robotic systems (GRS).
According to a soldier, due to logistical challenges, the first attempt to evacuate a wounded soldier is made to the battalion’s first-aid station.
There, the soldier receives the necessary stabilization treatment. This helps improve his condition and increase his chances of surviving further transport.
Afterward, the wounded soldier is transported to the brigade’s stabilization point or to the forward surgical team (FST) of the 4th Medical Battalion, based at the 3rd Army Corps.
If necessary, full-scale surgical intervention is performed there, after which the soldier is transferred to a hospital.
At the same time, the main problem remains the evacuation from the front lines itself.
“Disney” noted that Russian forces have significantly improved their methods of countering Ukrainian logistics.
In particular, there are now more “loitering” drones and fiber-optic-controlled unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) along the routes. Such UAVs are harder to detect in advance, which poses an additional danger to evacuation teams.
“Only when you actually run into them will you realize that this is a problem,” Disney explained.
One of the key solutions in such conditions has been ground-based robotic systems.
In the Third Assault Brigade, they are used not only to deliver ammunition, food, and other essential supplies, but also to evacuate personnel.
According to the soldier, the brigade is one of the leaders in the use of ground-based robotic systems. The robotic platforms help transport wounded soldiers from the front lines and evacuate fallen soldiers.
“We try to reach everyone, get everyone out, and help everyone,” he emphasized.
Ground-based robotic systems are used not only for military missions.
The Third Army Corps has already demonstrated on multiple occasions instances where robotic systems were used to evacuate civilians from dangerous areas.
Thus, robotic systems are increasingly being used for logistics and rescue operations in areas where the presence of military personnel or civilians is particularly dangerous due to the constant threat of drone strikes.
The deputy commander of the communications unit of the Third Separate Assault Brigade, with the call sign “Disney,” spoke about this on Army TV.
As a reminder, operators from the 421st Separate “Sapsan” Unmanned Systems Battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Airborne Forces discovered a cache of Russian equipment. During combat operations, Ukrainian troops destroyed six vehicles, and footage of the operation was released online.
Over the past day, 215 combat engagements took place on the front lines. In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian forces repelled seven enemy attacks, continuing to hold back the offensive actions of Russian forces.
Ukraine’s air defense forces shot down 135 of the 163 drones that Russian troops had used to attack the country’s territory since the evening of September 2.
On September 3, a man was injured in the Boryspil district of Kyiv Oblast as a result of a Russian attack. It is reported that one person was wounded by the enemy strike.
In the Khmelnytskyi region, a warehouse at one of the enterprises caught fire after debris from a downed Russian strike drone fell on it. The fire covered an area of 200 square meters, according to Serhiy Tyurin, head of the regional military administration.
Over the past day, 15 private homes were damaged in the Mykolaiv region as a result of attacks by Russian Shahed-type strike UAVs. A social services building and three cars were also damaged, according to Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Head Heorhiy Reshetilov.
