Two DNR militants will stand trial for torturing a civilian woman at the Izolyatsia prison

The Office of the Prosecutor General has filed an indictment with the court against two members of the so-called “DNR Ministry of State Security”—the former head of the counterterrorism department and an investigator.

According to the investigation, from March 2021 to October 2022, the defendants persecuted a 38-year-old pro-Ukrainian resident of the Donetsk region. The woman was illegally held for about a month in the underground “Izolyatsia” prison in occupied Donetsk, where she was beaten, tortured, and threatened with murder and violence against her children, and one of the militants committed acts of sexual violence against her.

Through abuse and forced trips to deserted locations, the victim was coerced into giving false testimony to fabricate a criminal case alleging her collaboration with Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.

According to the journalists, following the alleged crimes, they are currently in Russia.
