The General Staff confirmed strikes on high-value targets in Russia
On the night of May 31, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Saratovskiy oil refinery in the city of Saratov, as well as the Lazarevo production and dispatch station in the Kirov Region of the Russian Federation.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially reported on the successful combat operation.
In addition, the Ukrainian military carried out precision strikes on a number of other strategic and military targets in several regions.
According to the military command, the oil refinery in Saratov sustained significant damage.
“On the night of May 31, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Saratov Oil Refinery (Saratov, Saratov Region, Russian Federation). A large-scale fire on the refinery’s premises has been confirmed,” the official statement said.
The attacked refinery is one of the key oil refining enterprises in the Volga region and is part of the well-known Russian company "Rosneft." The plant’s design processing capacity is approximately 7 million tons of crude oil per year.
The facility specializes in the production of gasoline, diesel, and other types of fuel, which are actively used to ensure the uninterrupted military logistics of the aggressor state.
Another important target for Ukrainian forces was an oil transportation infrastructure facility located a considerable distance from the border.
“Among other things, an important element of the aggressor’s oil transportation infrastructure was struck—the Lazarevo linear production and dispatch station in the Kirov region of the Russian Federation, which pumps crude oil through the Surgut-Gorky-Polotsk main pipeline,” the General Staff reported.
In parallel with strikes on the oil and gas sector, the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully targeted the occupiers’ logistics hubs and command posts.
In particular, a hit was recorded on a fuel and lubricants depot in the village of Matveev Kurgan in the Rostov region. The strike nullified the enemy’s efforts to stockpile fuel reserves in this area.
