The Main Intelligence Directorate has declassified details of Operation "Dronozid" in the Zaporizhzhia sector

In the summer of 2025, Ukrainian forces regained control of the skies over Zaporizhzhia thanks to the systematic elimination of Russian drone operators.

This was reported by LIGA.net, citing an officer from the Department of Active Operations of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) with the call sign Toyota. As part of the operation, intelligence officers identified approximately 90 positions and locations of enemy strike and reconnaissance drone crews. As a result of precision strikes, 42 of the occupiers’ bases were destroyed or damaged.

According to the intelligence officer, Ukrainian units managed to identify the Russian operators by name and establish their work schedules. Systematic tracking of Russian activity forced enemy crews to constantly change positions, which significantly complicated their logistics. This led to a reduction in the frequency of Russian drone sorties from 15–20 to approximately seven per day.

The command of the “South” Defense Forces confirmed that the operation secured air superiority for Ukrainian forces in certain sectors of the front. A significant reduction in the number of Russian drones laid the groundwork for seizing the initiative in the southern sector. Currently, the experience gained from “DronoCide” is being used to scale up successful practices for countering the occupiers’ technological advantage.
