The Kremlin invited Zelenskyy to Moscow for talks under its own guarantees

Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Volodymyr Zelenskyy might allegedly travel to Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin, and that the Kremlin promises to provide him with security guarantees. At the same time, officials in Moscow say that talks between the two leaders are currently considered premature.

According to the Kremlin spokesperson, Russia’s position on a possible meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy remains unchanged.

“As for a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy—our position on this is well known. Putin said that Zelenskyy, if he wishes, can come to Moscow. Security guarantees will be provided to him. And he knows perfectly well what decisions need to be made,” Peskov said.

Dmitry Peskov did not specify exactly which decisions he was referring to.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesperson stated that Moscow does not consider a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy to be appropriate until the necessary work at the expert level has been completed.

“Holding a summit-level meeting before the necessary work at the expert level has been completed is a waste of time,” Peskov said.

At the same time, Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow currently sees no preconditions for moving to a peaceful track in negotiations regarding Ukraine.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesperson asserts that Russia allegedly remains open to peace talks but considers high-level contacts without prior preparation to be premature.

Thus, the Kremlin simultaneously declares its readiness for a meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin in Moscow while insisting on preliminary expert work and the absence of preconditions for a peaceful settlement at this time.
