The name of the first 18-year-old conscript killed in the war against Ukraine has been released

Journalists have identified the names of 226,055 Russian soldiers who died during the full-scale war against Ukraine. Among the confirmed casualties are more than 200 soldiers aged 18.

The highest number of confirmed casualties has been recorded in Russian regions.

Bashkortostan remains the leader in terms of the absolute number of deaths, with over 10,000 soldiers confirmed killed. Tatarstan ranks second with 8,759 deaths. In the Moscow region, 6,084 deaths have been confirmed.

If we consider not the total number of deaths but the ratio to the male population, the highest casualty rates are in Tuva, Buryatia, and the Altai Republic.

According to journalists’ estimates, residents of these regions are 20–30 times more likely to be among those killed in the war than residents of Moscow.

In the last two weeks alone, more than 2,500 new names have been added to the list of confirmed casualties.

A significant portion of the soldiers whose deaths have been confirmed recently had been considered missing in action since 2024.

In some cases, their bodies were found; in others, their deaths were officially recognized through court rulings based on appeals from relatives or military units.

According to the researchers, over 56% of all confirmed casualties are volunteers, conscripts, and convicts who were sent to the front from penal colonies.

The study’s authors emphasize that the 226,000 confirmed deaths represent only a fraction of the Russian army’s actual losses.

According to military experts, an analysis of obituaries, military memorials, and graves may cover only 45–65% of the total number of casualties.

Accordingly, the total losses of Russian and pro-Russian forces during the war could range from 371,000 to over 528,000 servicemen.

The list also includes Alisher Svirin—the first confirmed Russian soldier killed in action born in 2008.

He signed a contract with the Russian army and was killed on May 1, 2026. Given his age, his service time prior to his death could not have exceeded a few months.

At the same time, statistics from the Russian Ministry of Finance indicate a decline in the rate of military recruitment. In the first quarter of 2026, 71,216 new contracts were signed, the lowest figure in the last three years. Analysts estimate that Russian troop losses could reach about 9,000 people per month.

This was reported by the BBC’s Russian Service.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released updated data on Russian troop losses as of the morning of June 12, 2026. According to the Ukrainian command, over the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces eliminated another 1,300 invaders and inflicted losses on enemy equipment.

Russia is deploying new assault units to the southern front.
