Russian Forces Damage TV Tower and Energy Infrastructure in Sumy Region

On March 9, Russian troops carried out 44 attacks across Sumy region. Thirty settlements came under fire, with a television tower and several energy infrastructure facilities damaged. Local services are working to restore the affected areas, according to the Sumy Police.

In total, 121 explosions were recorded in the region. Civilian infrastructure suffered the following damage:

  • Velykopysarivska community — two private homes and two cars;
  • Bilopil community — television tower;
  • Mykolaivska community — private home;
  • Sumy community — warehouse and energy infrastructure facility;
  • Yunakivska community — private home;
  • Trostianetska community — energy infrastructure facilities;
  • Hlukhivska community — industrial enterprise building;
  • Shalyhinska community — two residential homes.

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that the air raid alert in the region lasted 20 hours and 54 minutes.

In Velykopysarivska, a 71-year-old man was injured when an enemy drone struck a civilian vehicle. Over the day, local authorities, together with the State Emergency Service, National Police, and community organizations from border regions, evacuated 28 people.

Russian forces also shelled the city of Sumy, damaging a three-story building. A state of emergency has been declared in Sumy due to flooding of infrastructure and residential buildings. The airstrike injured two children and an elderly woman.

Meanwhile, in Malynivka, Kharkiv region, rescue and search operations continue following a Russian strike on a warehouse building.

It should be recalled that Russian forces also attacked two districts in Dnipropetrovsk region using artillery and drones.
