The UN has confirmed that more than 15,800 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since the start of the war

Since February 2022, at least 15,850 civilian deaths have been confirmed in Ukraine, including 791 children. Another 44,809 people have been injured, including 2,752 children, though the organization emphasizes that the actual casualty figures are significantly higher.

This is stated in a statement by a representative of the UN Department of Political Affairs and Peacebuilding, reports Censor.NET.

In the past month alone, 238 civilians were killed and 1,404 were injured, marking the highest monthly death toll since July 2025. This increase is attributed to intensified Russian airstrikes, particularly during the bombings on May 13–14, when over 1,500 drones and dozens of missiles were launched at Ukrainian cities.

The UN has also documented cases of targeted attacks on humanitarian missions. Specifically, on May 14 in Kherson, a pre-verified vehicle belonging to the organization was hit by a double strike, and on May 12, a World Food Programme vehicle was attacked by a drone. The Department emphasized the need for strict adherence to international law and the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel.

Since May 1, Russia has killed at least 70 civilians in Ukraine and wounded more than 500, according to the UN.

On May 14, in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, a nine-story residential building collapsed after being struck by a Russian missile, killing 23 people.
