A Mi-8 crashed while intercepting Russian drones; four soldiers were killed

On June 30, a Mi-8 helicopter crashed while carrying out a combat mission to intercept Russian drones. All four crew members were killed in the crash.

Among the deceased were the crew commander, Captain Yuriy Voron; the pilot-navigator, Major Valentin Mukshinov; the flight engineer, Senior Lieutenant Bohdan Khmil; and the gunner, Junior Sergeant Mykhailo Deryaga. All of them served in the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Brody.”

The crew carried out their combat mission to the very end, ensuring the protection of Ukrainian airspace and providing cover for Ukrainian defenders. A farewell ceremony for the fallen soldiers will take place on July 7 in Brody.

On the night of June 27, 2026, the Ukrainian Air Force lost contact with a MiG-29 fighter jet that was carrying out a combat mission in the skies over the Poltava region. The pilot managed to eject; his condition and the circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a 56-year-old woman was killed as a result of Russian shelling, and two other people, including a 13-year-old girl, were injured. The enemy strikes affected several districts of the region at once, causing damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.
