Pistorius said Ukraine does not currently need Taurus missiles – Bild

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius believes that Ukraine no longer needs Taurus long-range cruise missiles. According to him, the priority for the allies right now is to provide Kyiv with the necessary funding and continued military support.

Pistorius noted that Ukraine is set to receive funds under the European Union’s loan program, as well as from a support fund totaling approximately €70 million. He added that Germany’s contribution to this mechanism will be one of the largest.

Separately, the German defense minister commented on the situation at the front. According to him, although the line of contact remains largely stable, the Ukrainian military is successfully striking Russian oil refineries and logistics facilities, which is yielding tangible results.

“Things have never been as good as they are now (on the front lines—ed.)... In some places, the front line shifts by several kilometers in one direction or the other, but each time this is accompanied by incredible losses among Russian troops,” Pistorius said.

According to the minister, this is precisely why Western partners should focus today on providing financial support to Ukraine rather than on discussions about the transfer of Taurus missiles, Bild reports.

Earlier, Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a new massive strike.

So far, 11 deaths have been reported in Kyiv, and July 7 has been declared a day of mourning in the capital.

The Russians last launched a massive attack on Ukraine on the night of July 1. At that time, Russian forces launched 496 UAVs of various types and 74 missiles—air-, ground-, and sea-based—of various types at Ukraine.
