During a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin stated that Russia has no aggressive plans toward Europe and called the fears of European countries “myths.”
This was reported by Putin’s aide, Yuri Ushakov. According to him, the Kremlin leader accused European governments of using the “Russian threat” to justify continued support for Ukraine and increase their own military spending. The statement came amid accusations from European countries regarding Russian hybrid activities, acts of sabotage, and airspace violations.
The conversation between Putin and Trump lasted about an hour. The main topics were the prospects for ending Russia’s war against Ukraine and the results of recent contacts between U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner with Moscow and Kyiv. According to Ushakov, Trump emphasized his desire to reach a settlement as soon as possible before the end of his presidential term, but no specific agreement on ceasing hostilities was announced.

In addition to issues regarding the cessation of hostilities and security guarantees, the parties discussed the country’s post-war recovery and the mobilization of resources for reconstruction, as well as economic guarantees designed to prevent the war from breaking out again.
