Russia Is Increasingly Using FPV Drones on Fiber-Optic Cables: What You Need to Know

Russian troops are increasingly using fiber-optic-controlled FPV drones in the Kherson region. These drones are not vulnerable to electronic warfare measures, as the signal is transmitted via a cable that the drone uncoils as it flies.

The Kherson Regional Military Administration has urged civilians who spot a drone not to film it with their phones but to immediately seek the nearest shelter.

If it becomes necessary to damage the fiber-optic cable, this should only be done with sharp tools, without touching it with your hands. After the drone has crashed, approaching it is strictly prohibited due to the risk of explosion.

All detected or downed drones must be reported immediately to emergency services and the military.
