Russia attacked Ukraine with "Bandera" units and nearly a hundred drones
On the afternoon of August 28, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with seven “Banderol” drones and 96 strike drones. Most of the drones were jet-powered, and the enemy directed a significant portion of them toward Kyiv.
According to military reports, the Russians launched drones and “Banderolas” throughout the day on August 28—from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. “Throughout the day on August 28 (from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), the enemy attacked Ukraine with seven S8000 ‘Banderole’ and 96 strike UAVs (more than 70 of them jet-powered),” the Air Force reported.
Thus, during this period alone, Russia launched 103 aerial targets at Ukraine. More than 70 of the 96 strike drones were jet-powered. According to military sources, the Russians directed most of the drones toward Kyiv. Ukrainian air defense repelled the attack throughout the day. According to preliminary data, as of 7:00 p.m., air defenders had shot down or neutralized six out of seven “Banderole” drones and 73 strike drones.
At the same time, the attack had not yet ended. About 10 Russian jet-powered drones remained in Ukrainian airspace. The Air Force continued to monitor the air situation and engage enemy targets. Russia has recently been actively using attack drones to strike Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure. Jet drones, which can cover the distance to the target more quickly, pose a particular danger.
Following the August 28 attack, Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized most of the aerial targets launched by Russia; however, as of the evening briefing, some drones were still in Ukrainian airspace. The attack was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Earlier, Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on a facility in Kryvyi Rih.
