Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and 267 drones; air defense forces destroyed 233 targets
On the night of August 29, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using missiles and 267 attack drones.
Air defense forces shot down or neutralized 233 enemy drones, but some hits were recorded.
According to the Air Force, the Russian army used the following that night:
- an “Onyx” anti-ship missile;
- an “Iskander-M” ballistic missile, launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea;
- 267 attack drones, including Shahed-type drones—such as jet-powered models, “Gerbera,” S8000 “Banderole,” and “Parodia” decoy drones.
The launches were carried out from Russian territory and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
According to preliminary information as of 8:30 a.m. on August 29, Ukrainian air defenses shot down or neutralized 233 enemy drones in the north, south, east, and central parts of the country.
At the same time, airstrikes were recorded at 15 locations.
At four additional locations, downed enemy targets and their debris were found.
Some of the Russian munitions failed to reach their targets. Information regarding the consequences of the attack is being clarified.
As of the time this report was released, several Russian drones remained in Ukrainian airspace.
“The attack is ongoing; there are several enemy drones in the airspace. Follow safety guidelines!” the Air Force warned.
Against the backdrop of the nighttime attack, Russia has now been carrying out massive strikes on Kyiv and the Kyiv region for the third consecutive day, using, in particular, jet-powered drones.
Defense forces continue to work to repel the enemy’s air attacks.

In the Odesa region, one person was killed and three others were wounded as a result of the enemy strike. The attack also caused eight trucks carrying food supplies to catch fire.
On the afternoon of August 28, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with seven “Banderole” drones and 96 attack drones. Most of the drones were jet-powered, and the enemy directed a significant portion of them toward Kyiv.
As a result of the August 28 attack, Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized most of the aerial targets launched by Russia; however, as of the evening briefing, some drones were still in Ukrainian airspace. The Ukrainian Air Force reported the attack.
Earlier, Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on a facility in Kryvyi Rih.
As a reminder, Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles.
Prior to that, Russia had attacked warehouses and energy infrastructure in the Odesa region.
