Russia wants to use airships to deliver drones and bombs

Russia is considering the use of airships to transport drones and aerial munitions to the combat zone. The occupiers are resorting to this measure in response to regular strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on enemy depots, oil depots, and logistics routes.

According to the Russian developers’ plan, airships can be used not only for surveillance but also as platforms for launching drones and delivering aerial bombs.

In this way, Russia is attempting to find alternative ways to supply its troops with weapons and equipment amid constant attacks by Ukrainian drones on its logistics infrastructure.

Earlier, details emerged about another Russian project called “Barrier, which is being developed by the company “First Airship.”

The concept involves creating a network of airships that will raise special nets up to 250 meters into the air to intercept Ukrainian drones.

Such technologies are not new. They were used as far back as World War I and World War II, when airships with metal cables protected key facilities from air attacks.

According to experts, Russian developers have already reported successful testing of the “Barrier” system and even announced that they have received their first orders.

At the same time, experts point to a number of technical issues that could significantly limit the effectiveness of such solutions.

The main problem remains the limited payload capacity of airships, which could complicate their use as carriers for heavy drones or munitions.

In addition, large aerial structures are vulnerable to weather conditions, air defense systems, and modern electronic warfare systems.

Despite this, Russia continues to seek new ways to adapt its logistics and military technologies amid the growing effectiveness of Ukrainian strikes on the occupiers’ rear facilities.

The Russian Federation’s Center for Unmanned Systems and Technologies announced plans to test the new system, with the statement being circulated by Russian propaganda media.

In addition, Russian occupation forces plan to significantly increase the use of new variants of jet-powered strike drones against Ukraine. The enemy expects that it will be much more difficult for the Ukrainian air defense system and mobile fire groups to destroy high-speed aerial targets

Summer will be difficult for the occupiers due to strikes on logistics — Flash.

The Russian army is already experiencing a shortage of personnel on the front lines — Gnatov.

The occupiers complain that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are cutting off the land corridor to Crimea with drones.
