Russia attacked Kyiv with drones; there are casualties and damage
On the night of September 22, Russian troops attacked Kyiv with strike drones. In the Dnipro district, a strike on a residential building caused a fire and damage; four people were injured.
Reports of explosions in the capital began to surface on the night of September 22. Even before that, the Air Force had detected enemy drones moving toward Kyiv—in particular, they reported a jet-powered UAV in the area of the Kyiv Reservoir, which was heading toward the city. Subsequently, a warning was issued about an attack drone directly over the capital.
“Kyiv. A jet-powered UAV over the city! Take cover!” read the Air Force’s message. Shortly thereafter, information emerged about a new threat—a missile—and a red alert was declared in the capital.
During the alert, air defense forces were active in the city. Residents were urged not to leave their shelters until the danger had passed and to follow updates from official sources.
Later, the initial consequences of the nighttime strike became known. According to the State Emergency Service, in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district, a strike on a five-story residential building caused a fire in the basement and damage to the first floor; the building’s facade was also damaged. The fire was extinguished.
Rescue workers managed to save 15 people. Four people were injured, three of whom were hospitalized.
In addition, a tree caught fire on the grounds of a private residential home in the Darnytskyi district. There were no fatalities as a result of the attack.

Overnight, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine, and fires broke out in several regions.
In Zaporizhzhia, a shopping complex was destroyed as a result of an attack by a Russian UAV. One person was injured in the strike.
On the night of September 19–20, 2026, a Russian missile and drone attack destroyed the “Ventilation Systems” plant in Boyarka.
Russia also struck Lozova, damaging the train station; one person was killed.
On September 21, Russia attacked two districts in the Kyiv region.
