Russia Uses AI to Spread Fake Claims About Mobilisation in Ukraine — Zelenskyy

Russia is exploiting sensitive issues surrounding mobilisation in Ukraine to spread panic and disinformation, including through the use of artificial intelligence, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.

According to the head of state, the enemy is deliberately manipulating the topic of the Territorial Recruitment Centres (TCCs) in order to create a distorted picture of the situation in Ukraine.

“Of course, there are many challenges with the TCCs, but there is also a lot of disinformation, a lot of AI. Russia did this deliberately to portray as much as possible that Ukraine is ‘forcibly rounding everyone up’, although this is not the full truth,” Zelenskyy said.

The president stressed that the adversary uses any mistake or difficult situation to fuel internal panic within the country.

“The enemy uses any mistake or complicated situation to stir up panic inside the country,” he underlined.

At the same time, Zelenskyy said that the Ministry of Defence has been instructed to improve the approach to mobilisation and make it more technological and transparent.

“The Ministry of Defence has been tasked with clarifying this issue (mobilisation) and finding a more technological approach. We will see how the minister handles it. We will support them in any way,” he added.

In addition, Russian authorities are once again attempting to distort the meaning of the Budapest Memorandum in order to justify their armed aggression against Ukraine and violations of its territorial integrity.
