Russia has rejected Ukraine's proposal for a ceasefire in the Black Sea
Russia sees no reason to agree to Ukraine’s proposal to halt attacks on civilian targets in the Black Sea.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on reports of a proposal that Ukraine conveyed to the Russian side through an intermediary.
According to her, Moscow allegedly faces regular attacks by Ukrainian drones on civilian vessels. At the same time, Zakharova stated that Russia “sees no preconditions for improving the situation” and does not consider “half-measures” to be appropriate.
The day before, Reuters reported that Ukraine, through an intermediary, had proposed to Russia that both sides mutually cease strikes on civilian targets in the Black Sea. At that time, Moscow had not yet responded.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called on Ukraine and Russia to establish a ceasefire mechanism in the Black Sea. Ankara was also considering the possibility of creating separate safety corridors for commercial vessels.
