The Russians are trapped on the Kinburn Spit and are facing supply problems
Russian troops on the Kinburn Spit are under constant fire from the Ukrainian Defense Forces and are facing serious supply problems. At the same time, the occupiers continue to deploy reserves in an attempt to hold their positions.
This was reported by Denis Nosikov, commander of the “Odessa” Operational-Tactical Group. According to him, Ukrainian troops are not physically present on the Kinburn Spit but are controlling it with fire. Following strikes on Russian logistics and positions, the occupiers retreated from the northern and western parts of the spit deeper into the peninsula.
Nosikov noted that the main Russian force in this sector is the 337th Separate Assault Regiment. At the same time, he said, there is currently no sign of an offensive by the Russians.
“Ukrainian defense forces are in complete control. The enemy, whatever it may be called, is now in a very entrenched defensive position,” the commander said.
He added that Russian troops are facing shortages of ammunition, food, and fuel. The occupiers are attempting to take advantage of favorable weather conditions to transport equipment and supplies.
According to Nosikov, the Russians recently attempted to transport eight vehicles to the spit, but all of them were destroyed.
In addition, the supply routes on the Kinburn Spit are mined, specifically with anti-personnel mines. Because of this, it is difficult for Russian troops to both resupply their positions and withdraw from them.
Nosikov also reported that Ukrainian troops raised the Ukrainian flag on the peninsula using a drone.
Denis Nosikov spoke about this in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s “Crimea. Realities.”
As a reminder, four civilians were injured in the Kherson region on August 8 as a result of Russian attacks. All of them are residents of Kherson who were injured by strikes from Russian drones. Residential buildings, an administrative building, a cultural center, and vehicles were also damaged.
On August 9, a 61-year-old woman was killed and two other people were injured in the Kherson region as a result of Russian shelling.
