Russians in Shahid deliberately struck a passenger train in the Odesa region; there are fatalities

Russian terrorists struck the locomotive of a passenger train in the Odesa region with a drone. Reports of the first fatalities have already emerged.

The
monitoring team detected the drone threat and issued a command to stop the train. The train was pulling into the station to safely evacuate the passengers.

Due to the sudden maneuver of the “Shahed” drone, the locomotive crew did not have time to bring the train to a complete stop and evacuate themselves.

“Unfortunately, I must personally report the worst: according to preliminary information, this strike left no chance for our locomotive crew—the engineer and his assistant,” wrote Oleksandr Pertsovskyi.

“We bow our heads in respect for the heroism of our colleagues—they died while stopping the train to ensure the safe evacuation and rescue of their passengers,” added the chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia.

All 340 passengers and the train crew were evacuated to a safe location. None of them were injured.

Bus transportation to Odesa has now been organized.

This was reported by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, on Facebook.

Later, the railway operator also confirmed the strike.

“The evacuation of passengers is ongoing. The Odesa Regional, Odesa City, and Berezivka District military administrations, the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa Region, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Odesa Region, and other services have joined the effort. Twenty-one buses have been deployed to transport people. We thank all the agencies and people who are currently helping passengers reach a safe place,” reads the statement from Ukrzaliznytsia.

As a reminder, on the night of August 13, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 133 strike drones, including Shaheds, jet-powered UAVs, “Gerberas,” and “Parody” decoy drones.

On the night of August 13, Russian troops attacked Chernihiv with jet-powered drones. The strikes damaged several garages belonging to a car cooperative and the premises of local businesses, and a fire broke out.

On the evening of August 12, Russian occupiers attacked two men with a drone in the Korabelny district of Kherson. Both civilians were killed in the strike.
