Russian propaganda is spreading disinformation ahead of the second anniversary of the Kursk Operation
The Center for Countering Disinformation stated that Russian propaganda outlets have launched yet another disinformation campaign timed to coincide with the second anniversary of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ Kursk Operation.
Z-channels are spreading stories about the Russians’ alleged “heroic nine-month battles” and the “bravery” of Russians in confronting “significantly superior forces,” which completely contradicts their own behavior in August 2024, when events in the Kursk region were initially simply hushed up.
In addition, the Russians are attempting to groundlessly accuse the Ukrainian military of terrorizing the civilian population. In particular, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova claimed that approximately 300 local residents had allegedly gone missing, without providing any verified evidence. The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasizes that the purpose of these fabrications is to glorify the war of aggression and create a distorted perception of events, while propagandists traditionally ignore the fact of daily Russian terror against Ukraine.
