US intelligence predicted Russia's strategy in the war against Ukraine

According to U.S. intelligence assessments, Russia will continue to wage a war of attrition until a peace agreement is reached with Ukraine, in an effort to achieve its own strategic objectives.

This was stated by U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard during a hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

According to her, Russia has “maintained the upper hand” in the war against Ukraine over the past year.

"Negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv are ongoing under U.S. auspices. Until a peace agreement is reached, Moscow will likely continue to wage a protracted, attritional war until it considers its objectives achieved," Hubbard said.

She also noted that Russia has the capacity to challenge U.S. interests through “military and non-military means.”

"The greatest threat from Russia is a potential escalation of the conflict, particularly in Ukraine, or a new conflict that would lead to direct clashes, including the potential use of nuclear weapons," the U.S. Director of National Intelligence added.
