Defense forces struck the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant in the Rostov Region
The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of key facilities on Russian territory that support the Russian military machine. Among them are the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant in the Rostov Region and the “Ilsky” Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai.
It is reported that the SBU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center, in coordination with the Ukrainian Navy, attacked the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant in Russia’s Rostov Oblast.
According to preliminary information, the strike damaged facilities for optical and foundry production, the assembly section, the electroplating shop, and the printed circuit board manufacturing shop.
To strike the facility, Ukrainian forces used “Neptune” cruise missiles, as well as “Ruta,” “Palyanytsia,” and “Bars” drone missiles.
The Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant is one of the key optoelectronic facilities of the Russian corporation “Tactical Missile Weapons.”
The facility manufactures radar and infrared homing heads for guided missiles, thermal imaging devices, and electronic systems for high-precision artillery.
In addition, strikes on railroad tank cars carrying fuel and lubricants were recorded in Azov.
Another target struck by the SBU in coordination with the Ukrainian Defense Forces was the “Ilsky” oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.
Following the strike, two fires were reported on the plant’s premises. One broke out near the tank farm, and the other near the ELOU-AVT unit.
In addition, a Russian “Pantsir-S2” anti-aircraft missile and gun system was struck in the Rostov Oblast.
The SBU emphasized that the targeted facilities are key components of Russia’s military-industrial complex and fuel infrastructure, which enable the Russian Federation to continue the war against Ukraine.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
Over the course of one week, Ukrainian forces struck six Russian oil refineries located between 200 and 1,600 km from the front line. Among the targets were facilities in Moscow, Perm, Novoshakhtinsk, and the Krasnodar Krai.
In Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, a fire broke out at the Ilsk Oil Refinery on the night of September 26 following a drone attack.
As a reminder, the Perm oil refinery in Russia suspended operations following a Ukrainian drone attack on September 25. According to Reuters, a fire broke out at the facility, and pipelines, storage tanks, and processing units were damaged. It is not yet known when the refinery will be able to resume operations.
As of September 25, two other Russian oil refineries had suspended oil processing following drone attacks. These are the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in the Samara Region and the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant in the Rostov Region.
