In Balashikha, an oil rain fell following drone strikes on Moscow

In Balashikha, an oil rain fell following drone strikes on Moscow

In Balashikha, near Moscow, local residents are reporting unusual effects of the rain—black, oily stains with a burnt smell are appearing on clothing, cars, and other surfaces.

According to eyewitnesses, most complaints are coming from residents of the Zheleznichny neighborhood, where people noticed a dark coating on vehicles and personal belongings after the rain.

Balashikha is located northeast of the oil refinery in Kapotnya, which was previously attacked by drones. It is reported that several of the plant’s processing units were damaged as a result of the strikes.

After the incident, rain fell in the Moscow region, and winds blew at a speed of about 16 km/h in a northeasterly direction. Because of this, local residents speculate that particles of smoke, soot, and combustion products from the refinery may have been carried into Balashikha along with the rainfall.

At the same time, the “Mosekomonitoring” system has not yet reported any deterioration in air quality in the Moscow region and has not recorded any exceedances of permissible concentrations of harmful substances.

According to local media, so-called “oil rains” have previously been observed in various regions of Russia following attacks on oil refineries. In particular, residents of areas near refineries in Tuapse, Perm, and Ryazan have reported similar phenomena.

At this time, there is no official confirmation that the black streaks left by the rain in Balashikha are directly linked to the fire at the oil refinery. However, local residents continue to post photos and videos of the aftermath of the rainfall, which they have already dubbed “oil rain.”

Photos and videos are being actively shared in city chat groups and on social media.

In five cities in the Moscow Region, 16 people sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of falling debris and the chaotic response of Russian air defenses during the drone attack.

The Russian State Duma has responded to the record-breaking attack on Moscow.

The massive drone attack on Moscow sparked a wave of outrage and division across Russia’s regions.

Madyar pointed out the inscription on the drones that attacked the Moscow Oil Refinery for the third time.
