A well-known whistleblower was detained in Russia following his statements against Putin

In Russia, blogger and lawyer Ilya Remeslo has been detained on suspicion of spreading “fake news” about the Russian army.

Remeslo is known for his numerous accusations against opposition figures and his criticism of Alexei Navalny. In March, he published posts calling for Vladimir Putin to be held accountable as a war criminal.

Previously, the blogger also claimed to have received funding from entities linked to a former official in the Russian presidential administration. According to human rights organizations, following an investigation into his activities, he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital in St. Petersburg.

Russian media outlets are reporting this, citing law enforcement sources, though details of the case have not yet been disclosed.

Russia’s shadow fleet has lost several more tankers.

Western analysts have pointed to signs that the Kremlin finds itself in a difficult position.
