Ukraine will receive nearly $6 billion from the U.S. and the EU to strengthen its air defense capabilities
The United States and the European Union have approved the allocation of nearly $6 billion for Ukraine. The funds will be used to purchase and modernize air defense systems.
The United States has approved the potential sale of equipment to modernize air defense systems for an estimated $2.68 billion.
This package includes:
- S-300 Clone and GAM-67 missiles;
- laser-guided missiles for extended-range air defense;
- launchers and modification kits;
- RPS 202 radars for countering drones;
- software, technical documentation, and spare parts;
- engineering, transportation, and logistical support.
The project will be funded by contributions from one of the European countries, as well as funds from the U.S. Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program.
In addition to U.S. funding, Ukraine has received approval from the European Union to procure critical weapons, including air defense systems, worth 3 billion euros under the Ukraine Support Loan program.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that this will ensure the continuity of priority procurements and allow the Defense Forces to receive the necessary weapons in a timely manner to defend against missile attacks as winter approaches.
As a reminder, Fico does not want Slovakia to be drawn into the war under NATO Article 5.
