Ukraine damaged five production facilities at a plant that manufactures components for Oreshnik
On the night of September 26, the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant in the Rostov Region was struck. According to an investigation by Dallas Analytics, the strike damaged at least five of the plant’s production facilities.
Satellite images analyzed by the authors of the investigation show the aftermath of the strike. Traces of fire and significant damage to two buildings were observed in the foundry. The roof of the mechanical workshop partially collapsed, and the optics production, assembly, and electroplating workshops were also damaged.
AOMZ is part of the Russian corporation “Tactical Missile Weapons.” According to Dallas Analytics, the plant is involved in the production chains of at least seven Russian missile programs.
These include the R-37M air-to-air missile, the Kh-101 cruise missile, and the “Oreshnik” ballistic missile. According to the investigation, the plant manufactures, among other things, homing heads, automation units, cable systems, casings, and switching nodes for these missiles.
The company is also linked to the production of components for guided aerial bombs and equipment for the aerospace complex.
The Security Service of Ukraine had previously confirmed the strike on AOMZ.
