Ukraine struck six Russian oil refineries from Moscow to Perm over the course of a week, according to the Ministry of Defense

Over the course of one week, Ukrainian forces struck six Russian oil refineries located between 200 and 1,600 km from the front lines. Among the targets were facilities in Moscow, Perm, Novoshakhtinsk, and the Krasnodar Region.

The ministry noted that the strikes targeted facilities in Russia’s fuel and energy sector that supply resources to Russian troops.

Among the facilities attacked during the week, the Ministry of Defense named the Moscow Oil Refinery, which has a capacity of about 12 million metric tons of oil per year.

According to Ukrainian sources, key oil refining units at the facility have been put out of commission.

The Perm Oil Refinery, which is capable of processing about 13 million metric tons of crude oil annually, was also targeted.

In addition, Ukrainian forces attacked:

• the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery—with a capacity of about 7.5 million metric tons of crude oil per year;
• “Bashneft-UNPZ”—stated capacity of approximately 7.5 million metric tons per year;
• the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery—capable of refining approximately 7 million metric tons of crude oil annually;
• The Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai—with a capacity of about 6.6 million metric tons of oil per year.

The Ilsk Oil Refinery was struck on the night of September 26. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the facility had been struck, after which a fire was observed on its premises.

The plant has a capacity of approximately 6.6 million metric tons of crude oil per year. According to Ukrainian officials, its products are used, in particular, to supply the Russian armed forces.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also released a video showing the results of Ukrainian long-range strikes. He confirmed the strike on the Ilsk Oil Refinery and reported other attacks on Russian military infrastructure.

According to Zelenskyy, on the night of September 26, a facility in the Rostov region that supplies Russian troops with components for missiles and artillery, as well as a “Pantsir-S2” system, was struck.

The president also announced the results of strikes on logistics facilities and targets in the Black Sea.

“Every day, we respond to the aggressor’s terror against our people and our country. There are new results from long-range strikes carried out by our soldiers,” the head of state noted.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also reported the destruction of the “Iskra” plant.

According to Ukrainian sources, the plant manufactures electronic components for Russian weapons, specifically for guided air-to-ground missiles and “Pantsir” anti-aircraft missile and gun systems.

Thus, over the course of the week, Ukrainian forces have struck a number of enterprises in Russia’s fuel-energy and defense-industrial sectors, which, according to Ukrainian sources, supply the Russian army.

In Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, a fire broke out at the Ilsk Oil Refinery on the night of September 26 following a drone attack.

As a reminder, the Perm Oil Refinery in Russia suspended operations following a Ukrainian drone attack on September 25. According to Reuters, a fire broke out at the facility, and pipelines, storage tanks, and processing units were damaged. It is not yet known when the refinery will be able to resume operations.

As of September 25, two other Russian oil refineries had suspended oil processing following drone attacks. These are the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in the Samara Region and the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant in the Rostov Region.
