Zelenskyy stated that Russia is trying to force Ukrainians to leave Kyiv

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is trying to force Ukrainians to leave the capital. According to him, this particularly applies to Kyiv residents, who, in the president’s view, are one of the targets of this pressure.

“They want Ukrainians, especially those in the capital, to leave the capital. In fact, that is exactly what they were aiming for when the large-scale invasion began,” Zelenskyy said.

He noted that Kyiv is currently under 300 to 500 Russian attacks every day, regardless of the time of day.

“These are not military targets, and they are not on the front lines. They are attacking to paralyze the city and prevent people from going to school or work, because their children cannot attend classes or go to daycare due to all these attacks,” the president noted.

He said that in 2022, Putin’s goal was to force people to leave the capital “to demonstrate that if you don’t have a capital, you don’t have a country,” but “our country is more than just the capital, and the capital remains strong.”

Earlier, Zelenskyy reported that Putin had ordered the military to lift restrictions on strikes against civilian targets in Ukraine.

Russia may have used a new 40-kilogram warhead during the strike on the South Bridge in Kyiv. According to the ISW, Russian forces may be using cumulative charges on long-range drones to strike large, fortified targets.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian occupation forces carried out 741 strikes on 51 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region.
