Traitor from Kherson Sentenced to 13 Years for Working in Occupation Prison
A resident of Kherson has been sentenced to 13 years in prison with confiscation of property for collaborating with Russian occupying forces during the temporary occupation of the city.
According to the investigation, the man worked in a prison established by the occupation authorities, where he guarded detainees. After the city was liberated, he fled together with Russian troops, but was later brought to justice.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Investigators established that after Russian forces seized part of the Kherson region, the man voluntarily took a job at an occupation prison set up by the Russians on the premises of Northern Correctional Colony No. 90.
There he held the position of junior inspector in the security department and supervised prisoners.
In court, witnesses confirmed that the man regularly reported for duty and even told acquaintances about opportunities for “career advancement” within the structures of the occupation authorities.
Before the liberation of Kherson in autumn 2022, the convicted man left the city together with Russian troops and travelled to temporarily occupied territory, where he continued working for the occupiers.
He was later detained by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 13 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the SBU detained two agents of the FSB who were directing strikes on Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih.
Previously, the Security Service of Ukraine also detained an enemy agent in Zaporizhzhia who attempted to infiltrate a strategic defence-industry enterprise.
It was also reported that an SBU employee was detained while receiving a $68,000 bribe.
In addition, the SBU exposed seven pro-Russian agitators in five regions of Ukraine.
