The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a Russian sabotage group near Orikhiv
On August 31, in the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian forces eliminated a Russian sabotage group. At the same time, the enemy continues to put pressure on the positions of the Defense Forces in an attempt to improve its tactical position.
This was stated by Serhiy Kolesnichenko, spokesperson for the 148th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“As for Orikhiv specifically, a few days ago on the outskirts of the city, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces detected and destroyed an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group. The enemy is attempting to use infiltration to conduct reconnaissance, identify vulnerabilities, and create conditions for further operations,” he said.
At the same time, he emphasized that there is currently no immediate threat of Orikhiv being captured.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces are controlling the situation on the approaches to the city and are preventing the enemy from gaining a foothold. The enemy is currently focusing its main efforts on areas near Stepnogorsk and Malaya Tokmachka.
“Here, the enemy is operating primarily in small assault groups, trying to find weaknesses in our defenses, infiltrate, and establish a foothold at advantageous positions. Over the past day, Russian troops have attempted three times to improve their position in the area of Malaya Tokmachka and Pavlivka. All of these attempts were unsuccessful,” Serhiy Kolesnichenko reported.
He added that Russian troops are continuing their offensive operations in the south of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, but are not making any specific advances in the Orikhiv direction.
“The enemy continues to apply pressure, looking for opportunities to advance, but units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are halting their assaults, destroying personnel and equipment, and preventing the enemy from developing an offensive,” added the spokesperson for the 148th Brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As a reminder, the Russians carried out 30 strikes on the Sumy region over the past 24 hours.
Russian strikes on the Kyiv region injured four people.
Earlier that day, on August 30, Russian troops attacked Kyiv with strike drones. Explosions were heard in the capital, and air defense forces engaged enemy targets.
