António Costa has begun a tour of the Gulf countries
European Council President António Costa has arrived in the United Arab Emirates, kicking off a two-day tour of the Gulf states.
He announced this on social media.
Costa noted that he will visit the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar over the course of two days.
“I am in Abu Dhabi, beginning a two-day tour of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, which will take place today and tomorrow,” he said.
According to him, during the visit, he will convey three key messages to the European Union’s partners, particularly regarding the security situation in the region and the role of diplomacy.
He emphasized the EU’s solidarity in the face of threats, as well as the European Union’s readiness to be a reliable partner for the countries of the region.
Kosta stressed that joint efforts should be aimed at achieving “a comprehensive strategy for lasting peace in the Middle East through negotiations and diplomacy.”
As part of his trip, on April 14 he will meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. Afterward, Costa will travel to Saudi Arabia, where he will hold talks with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
